neph13 and I spun at an ambient/downtempo area of a local outdoor trance party this weekend; Here is the recording of my segment:

0x86 Live at Dragonfly (mp3, 129 Mb)

I spun from 4 am to 5:30 am -- which makes it a dawn set in these parts in June. My intent was to start dark-ish and build up tension, increase the tempo during twilight, then get groovy and melodic at sunrise. I think I succeeded.

Tracklist is embedded in the ID3 tag, but repeated here:

(Movement One: The Darkest Hour)

Liquid Stranger: Tubiflex
Xingu Hill: Rising Sand
Stress Assassin: Me We
Ooze: Searching Inwards

(Movement Two: Twilight)

Neurokin: Detuned Love
Kolibries: Radio
Abyssal Plains: Daybreak in Roatan
Miles Tilmann: Derail
Randomajestiq: Wet Dub Water
URL: The Tune
Tycho: Send and Receive (Chachi Jones)

(Movement Three: Dawn)

Gaudi: Chaine A Chaine
Mataya: World
Gift Culture: Blissed Out
Bad Loop: Ystaevae
Prometheus: Sweet Tooth
The Orb: Alles ist Schön

Hey, I heard you were in town taking care of a sick parent when I was at flipside - sorry I couldn't find your number when I was in Austin on Wednesday!

How are things going? And what are your and Gwen's numbers right now? feel free to email me at deadletter (at) speakeasy (dot) net

The location was nice, it didn't rain (we even had a bunch of sun on Sat afternoon while we set up), and the chill area went off very well.

I didn't spend much time in the main (trance) area, but some of the music I heard was a nice departure from what I think of as the "usual" -- for example, the first set was a nice techno-trance hybrid.

The only real downer was that it was cold, but fire pits helped greatly.

I've been listening to your mix this morning - great "wake up and get shit done" music.

Thanks for playing me out! :^)

My new CD should be out very, very soon (a matter of a week or two)

Re: awwwww!

And thanks for making that track! It was the perfect climax to the set, and was very well received -- even some of the people camping out on the periphery had to come out of the woodwork to groove to it!

I wish I could have gone! I wanted to hang out with you and your girlie some more. I took a course this weekend that I had to be at early in the morning and I wasn't supposed to party during (decreases the prana apparently) but the real reason was I didn't want to do the 4 hour round trip by myself. Hope it was fun!

Actually, Gwen couldn't go, so it was just Adrian, Chris, Rachel, and I. Others bowed out as well, mostly out of fear of the weather, but also because of a perception that no one else was going/could go... But don't worry, we'll make up for it on Friday!
